About

Hi there and welcome! I’m Sylvia…

I’m 50+ years old (Libra), and rediscovering my zest for life.

I’m a college graduate; Bachelors in Human Service  (Class of 2022). I’m also a warrior (read below), mentor, substitute teacher, advocate, non-profit founder, introverted  with extroverted tendencies and happily married – although it’s not always “happily” as we all know that marriage is – work.

I’m a (bonus)mom of 8, memaw to 6 and former foster mom. I was born and raised in the South  and love the “slow” pace of life that comes with being Southern. God and I have a personal relationship and that’s all that matters in my book; I’m more Spiritual than I am religious.

I love photography, being out in nature, camping, hiking, traveling, cruises, reading (think bookworm), sunflowers, writing, a clean (clutter free) home, gardening, the beach (we have a beautiful one here in my hometown), watching movies/documentaries that are based on real life events, being a “kid at heart“, spending time with my family and friends, and having a nice glass of Moscato  every now and then.

I’ve come to the conclusion that I dislike cooking. So, if you stop by, don’t be surprised if you’re eating something I’ve ordered from Sonny’s BBQ. It’ll be served to you with love.

I’m a survivor of: rape, domestic violence, infertility (after 11 years of trying, this journey has come to an end after having a hysterectomy), and sexual abuse. I’m also still working to get my organization off the ground. My website is: Sistas In Solidarity. I became a widow in 2008 and I wasn’t looking to remarry. However, 3 years later, that all changed and I did.

Life surely hasn’t been easy but I’m grateful in more ways than one.  I do my best to be joyful every.single.day and while there are days when I want to give up – I pray and focus on why I shouldn’t.

With love, Sylvia
